Only recently been seen in this area. Arrived with the warmer weather. |

The Peacock
A brightly coloured butterfly, with red, yellow, blue and black markings forming an 'eye' spot on each of its wings. The 'eyes' resemble the markings on the male peacock tail feathers.
Only been seen in this area since 2004. |

Lays its eggs on Cabbage and Nasturtium leaves. The larva feed on the leaves and are not popular with the gardeners. |

Spends the winter in Africa and southern Europe and migrates northwards in late spring.
