A survey was recently put out to members of the local community to see if there would be any interest in running classes and increasing the use of our recently refurbished community centre.
The results received back were very positive and around 30 surveys have been returned so far. Top of the list of requests was for pilates/yoga/tai chi, with other keep fit, a book club and children's activity club, flower arranging and drop in coffee mornings scoring very highly too. Lots of other suggestions were also made including opening as a pub on a Friday night (well, you never know, perhaps we could organise a wine tasting!) and organising community events such as a Burns Supper. Art classes and beauty nights, photography and beadwork....so many great suggestions.
Some people also indicated that they would be able to help run a class and others said they would consider coming onto a committee.
A meeting was held on 30th April and it was well attended. It was decided that the next step would be for a couple of people to get together and write a constitution and then hold a further meeting on 28th May at 7:30pm in the Community Centre at Woodhead to start forming a way forward as a group.
Everyone would be very welcome to come along on 28th May. Please bring along any suggestions you may have. |
