 RSPB Volunteers


21st August 2005. Some of the RSPB Survey volunteers who visited Windyhills today with guides Karen and Alan.

Bullfinches, Spotted Flycatcher, and Linnets were some of the birds seen. Also Small Copper Butterflies, Mining bees and Dragonflies.

Ellon Art GroupEllon Art Group take a break in sunshine at Windyhills.

The group visited us on Saturday June 18th to sketch and paint the woodlands. The quarry provided lots of inspiration for the artists.


RSPB Volunteers

RSPBAs a thankyou, for volunteering to carry out farm bird surveys,  the RSPB treated the bird watchers to a day out at Windyhills on the 21st August 2005.

On Tuesday 14th June 2005 Turriff Gardening Club enjoyed a guided tour of the Woodhead Wood.

Grampiam Fungi Group

On Saturday 21st August 2004 Liz Holden led Grampiam Fungi Group on a successful survey of Woodhead and Windyhills wood. Two weeks of rain proved favourable for the variety of species found on the day. The list of species can be found in the Flora and Fauna section under Fungi.
